Vanessa Curto is a writer, choreographer, healer and teacher. She
holds an M.F.A. in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of
Chicago and a B.A. in English from Rice University. Vanessa has
held university teaching positions at the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago and St. Augustine College. She has also completed
advanced training in meditation and healing. Vanessa has staged three
full-length dance theater works: Write on Water, The Book of Tango,
and The Circus of Angels, funded by awards from Rice University, the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Houston Playwright’s
Festival. Her other dance theater works have been performed at the
Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Columbia College
Chicago, Links Hall and the Full Circle Festival of Danztheatre.
Vanessa facilitates movement workshops that help people to focus
their attention and gain awareness of their own energy. She studied
and performed sacred dances in Chicago, Santa Fe, Austria, Budapest
and Italy. Vanessa is currently a member of an international
collaborative that investigates human development through Sufi and
esoteric Christian dance traditions.
